11/19/2013: Opening of my aquatics store, and about me.
Hiya. Stef here. Most of you know me as Artist Stef, or Ferret (artist) Stef, but, being Aquarius on the cusp of Pisces, I have been fascinated with anything water related for as long as I have been an artist. It contributed to my pet grooming history (you get plenty wet bathing Old English Sheepdogs - by far the most showering breed of all), fishing hobby, beach bum, and aquarium hobbies. When I met Chris (better known as Darkcobra on fishy forums), my boyfriend and planted tank enthusiast, 5 years ago, it was a great match. He is responsible for all the techie water chemical works and conditions to keep flora and fauna healthy. I, being an artist, of course, like to "oh" and "ah" over the pretty colors, plants, and aquascaping. Therefore, I am the biological half to this science equation. I'm not so good at math/chemical/percentages - that's Chris' department. Genetics, animal behavior, husbandry, and color mixing are mine. Since we have freshwater tanks only, besides Neon/Cardinal Tetras, Bettas (to me) are the most stunning in color and capable of various shades. Problem is, you cannot house male Bettas together. The next colorful is the guppy (to me). Therefore, I try to breed them to be as "flashy" as possible, since you can have a whole tankful of these gems. After many requests, I am now offering my fish (and other aquaria related things down the line) so that others may enjoy also. If fish are not your thing, enjoy the pretty colors. Basic black and white, and more subdued critters have their charm and place in our tanks, too. Everything under the water has its beauty. If not in its appearance, then in its motion. Here's a very small sampling of our tanks to date: |
